The Dashboard serves as the landing page of the B3 Benchmarking Application.
The default view contains nine standard energy widgets, though the dashboard can be completely customized to the unique needs of your portfolio. The gear icon in the upper right corner opens the dashboard configurator. Within the configurator, there is the option to reset back to default widgets and layout. Not only can the data being reported on be customized but the layout and position of the widget can be customized.
| Position | Widgets can be dragged to a new position when the mouse cursor changes to a move icon (four arrows), which happens over the gray widget header. Other widgets will adjust to shift into the gap. |
| Width & Height | A widget’s width can be adjusted to fixed increments of quarters, thirds, halves and full width. The height of a widget can be fixed into increments of thirds, fourths, or fifths. Dragging the mouse over the dots in the lower right corner will change the mouse cursor to adjust the widget’s width and height to the desired size. |
| Add | Additional widgets can be added by clicking “Add a widget” plus sign. The default widget is Energy but then can be changed to any options in the dropdown. |
| Delete | Widgets can be removed by clicking the trashcan icon in the upper right corner. |
ENERGY - Metrics, Usage, Baseline Comparison, Data Quality
Metric
One of the four key metrics reported by B3 can be selected as the dashboard metric: B3 Benchmark, B3 Peer, ENERGY STAR or Energy Baseline. The metric that is selected on the dashboard will be what the Metrics tab view defaults to. The B3 Benchmark is the default but if the dashboard is updated to display the Energy Baseline, then when switching to the Metrics tab the Energy Baseline will be displayed.
At the organization level, the metric widget provides an overview of how the organization is performing as well as how individual sites are, stack ranked with least performing sites at top. Note, the list of sites only contains building sites that are deemed complete and being included in metrics.
At the site level, that individual site’s selected metric is reported.
Energy
By default, all energy sources are included and SF normalized reporting in kBtu/SF. Due to SF normalizing, non-building sites are excluded from this metric by default. The per person normalization also excludes non-building sites as it’s based on the occupant count entered in the building editor. Within the dashboard configurator, a specific energy source type can be selected, and units and normalization method can be changed to allow inclusion of non-building energy use. B3 analyzes all meters to determine the most recent 12-month period, thus a water meter could hold back the currentness of energy data.
Energy Baseline
The Energy Baseline Comparison widget displays an animated gauge control detailing how an organization or site is doing compared to its baseline period. As with other widgets, units can be customized as well as specific meter source types.
WATER - Metrics, Usage, Baseline Comparison, Data Quality
Water
By default, all water sources are included and reported in kGal. Within the dashboard configurator, a specific water source type can be selected, and normalization method be changed. SF and per person normalization will excluded non-building sites as that data is pulled from the building editor. B3 analyzes all meters to determine the most recent 12-month period, thus an energy meter could hold back the currentness of water data.
Water Baseline
A water baseline is generated by comparing a site's most recent 12-months to the site’s baseline period, a user defined prior 12-months. By default, all water sources are included and reporting in kGal. Within the dashboard configurator, a specific water source type can be selected, as well as units and normalization method can be changed. SF and per person normalization will exclude non-building sites as that data is pulled from the building editor. Sites must be baseline-complete to be included in organization level roll-up and receive analysis.
COST
Cost
By default, all sources are included and reported in dollars/year. Within the dashboard configurator, a specific source type can be selected on which to report dollars/year.
Potential Savings
Potential Savings is based on B3 Benchmark metrics and is calculated when actual usage, by energy source, exceeds expected/predicted Benchmark usage.
MISCELLANEOUS
Space
At the organization level, the space widget provides the allocation of site’s primary building types. At the site level, this is taken down to the allocation of space asset types within building editor.
Stack Rank
At the organization level, choose from Units dropdown and compare and rank sites by Energy, Water, Carbon or Energy, Water, and total costs, and square footage.
Targets
Graph with baseline and target to note how on track you are to meet your efficiency goals.
Photos
Organization level see a carousel rotation of photos for sites that have photos uploaded to the Building Editor > Other > Photos tab.
Messages
At the organization and site level, the Messages widget provides error and warning message counts per site. Each message is a link that will navigate to the appropriate window (most often the Building Editor or Meter Editor) for resolution.
Data Quality - Energy, Water, and Waste (separate reporting widgets)
| Site Completeness | Percent of sites, buildings, and meters that are complete for the reported timeframe. |
| Freshness | The latest reading for active meters within an organization or site. |
| Meter Completeness | The number of months or years since all meters are current within an organization or site. All active meters are included in determining meter completeness. Use the Data tab to find meters that are holding back the currentness. |
| Longevity | The number of months or years the organization or site has continuous meter readings. |
