Water Tracking
Alongside energy tracking and benchmarking, B3 Benchmarking fully supports the entry, monitoring, and reporting of water usage. Features include water benchmarks, peer comparisons, ENERGY STAR Water Scores (for eligible multifamily buildings), baseline tracking, and a wide range of dashboard widgets and reports.
Water data can be categorized by mixed use, indoor only, outdoor/irrigation only, pools, and other uses. Sewer and stormwater fees can be tracked as separate meters or as columns within water readings. Data is stored in thousands of gallons (kGals) but can be entered in various units.
Indoor and outdoor benchmarks are calculated separately. Indoor benchmarks are based on occupancy and typical fixtures for each space type, with default values that can be overridden. Outdoor benchmarks are based on irrigated area, landscape features, and associated water needs. If indoor and outdoor usage is metered together, a mixed-use meter can track combined benchmarks.
The Benchmark Metrics tab compares actual water usage to expected benchmarks, with filters for meter type, units, and normalization. Water Peer reports show how a site compares to similar facilities. The Baseline tab tracks usage over time against a set baseline period (independent of the energy baseline).
The Visualizations tab offers templates and customizable options for water reporting. The Improvements tab allows users to set targets and events, projecting their impact over time. The Reports tab provides predefined water reports and a variety of widgets for custom reporting.
